Margarethus M. (Maarten) Paulides is Full Professor of Biomedical Electromagnetics at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). He leads the Electromagnetics for Care & Cure lab (EM4Care+Cure), a multidisciplinary medtech research and innovation lab operating at the interface of engineering, medicine and clinical implementation. Research within the lab spans biomedical electromagnetics, hyperthermia, medical imaging, computational medicine and neuromodulation. Through close collaboration with hospitals, industry and public partners, EM4Care+Cure develops and translates technologies for diagnosis, therapy and monitoring in healthcare.
His work combines scientific discovery, technology development and clinical implementation, with the ambition of ensuring that new technologies ultimately benefit patients.
Throughout his career, Maarten Paulides has worked at the interface of engineering, medicine and clinical practice. His work has contributed to advances in hyperthermia, MRI-guided interventions, patient-specific modelling, computational medicine and biomedical electromagnetics.
A recurring theme throughout this work has been the integration of measurements, models and implementation in healthcare.

The inaugural lecture presents the scientific themes that connect much of my research, ranging from biomedical electromagnetics and computational medicine to hyperthermia and medical imaging.
It reflects on the evolution of my research programme and discusses how measurements, computational models and therapeutic interventions can be combined to better understand, predict and ultimately improve biological response.
Research is primarily conducted within the EM4Care+Cure lab, but also at other institutes working on biomedical electromagnetics, hyperthermia, medical imaging, computational medicine, neuromodulation and electromagnetic dosimetry. Contact me if you are interested in joining our mission.
Researchers contributing to the EM4Care+Cure research programme.
Since 2004, over 55 BSc and MSc internship or thesis projects were conducted in biomedical electromagnetics, hyperthermia, medical imaging, computational medicine and neuromodulation. The projects were conducted at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), but also at Dutch or international clinics, companies or academic institutions. We are always looking for new talent interested to join this mission.
Research is primarily conducted at, or in collaboration with:
Please note that in the Netherlands, PhD and Postdoc positions are treated as regular employment. We can only hire researchers through defined, funded vacancies.
Exceptional postdoctoral researchers are encouraged to explore independent fellowship opportunities. Previous researchers have successfully joined the programme through national and European fellowships, including Marie Skłodowska-Curie Schemes. If you have a strong research idea that aligns with the vision of the laboratory, we are happy to discuss potential opportunities.
Please note: Open applications sent directly via email will generally not be processed.
For collaborations, student projects, invited talks, keynote lectures and media requests, please connect via LinkedIn or through my TU/e profile.
Topics for public speaking include:
